The day before my birthday, after many months of hard work and reflection, I made the decision to part ways with Amazon. After 12 years on the platform, this choice had been in the works for some time, and I’m ready to move forward.
The company has increasingly embraced practices I find ethically concerning. For example, they allow the publication of “summary books”—condensed versions of other authors’ work, which raises questions about fair use and originality. Additionally, the platform is flooded with low-content and AI-generated books, making it harder for genuine works to stand out. Without investing in ads, it’s become nearly impossible for many books to be discovered organically.
So, instead of paying giant corporations fees and taxes, I will be sharing my profits with charities instead. While I’m disappointed, I’m also relieved to move on. Here’s to a fresh start and hopefully a more balanced publishing landscape.
If you purchased any of my ebooks on Amazon up until the end of August 2024, you can send your proof of payment to orders@growyourvocabulary.net, and we will ensure you have access to these books on our app. For purchases made after August, please return them to Amazon, as I was not paid for those.
